Can my employment give me only 4 days notice that I need to travel an hour to the next office?

The next office is an hour away and they said that I will have to travel to that office. They gave me a 4 day notice that the office I am working in is closing. Is there employment laws that cover this?

Unfortunatly yes it is illegal. But the alternative to driving is loose your job. Atleast they are keeping you.

I have learned through experience when your location or office is closing, you are the last to know about it.

When I worked in retail ,they closed 3 stores in the region to open one super store. Almost everyone new it was happening about 6 weeks before those stores. And those stores were only given one week notice. A couple of the managers got transferred, but everyone else was let go or laid off.
Reply:Be glad you got that. I don't know what state you're in but in Virginia, it's an At Will state and you can be fired simply because you're not liked. You can check with your states laws to find out what laws are in place but really, there's no clear answer for this. Employers can do what they want and unfortunately, we're just the pawns in the game.
Reply:I don't think there are any employment laws that can help you, at least not if you are in NY State!

I got 2 seconds notice that my 22 year career at a factory was over!

Just wake up an hour earlier and thank God you still have a job and/or start looking for a new job!
