My new employer promised a signing bonus payable during the first week of employment.?

So far, it has been not going well. If I am fired or quit, do they owe me this bonus since there were no stipulations about the length of employment or mention of having to return it? I have it all in writing on my signed offer letter.

My new employer promised a signing bonus payable during the first week of employment.?
If a signing bonus was promised to you then it is a "bonafide" contract. If it was not promised in a contract then they owe you absolutely nothing.

Just make sure that you read this again, because sometimes there are stipulations that are applied to a contract. For instance, you have to work for a certain amount of time, criteria to get this bonus.

Also, make sure that this is in fact a "signing bonus".

My opinion, is be sure to read the fine print.

Best regards.
Reply:If it's in writing you should get it.
Reply:When you had your job orientation, was this topic address, and if so refer to those papers. I would suggest after that contact HR.
Reply:Review your 'signing bonus.' The document should clearly identify the circumstances under which you are entitled and the conditions under which you would not be given the bonus.

Usually, a 'signing bonus' will outline conditions under which the employer can retract the bonus.

Hope this helps.
Reply:most sign on bonuses have clause that states it is payable after 90 days or up 6 months. I have never heard of being paid the first week
Reply:I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU WORK BUT SOME PLACES YOU ARE UNDER A 90 DAY TRIAL PERIOD. YOU PROBABLY WON'T GET THE BONUS IF THINGS ARE GOING BAD ALREADY.
