Is it legal standard protocol to observe during pre-employment urine specimen collection?

I am participating in a drug screening as part pre-employment at a local hospital, and want to know if it's normal and/or legal for the collection site personnel to observe during the event.

Is it legal standard protocol to observe during pre-employment urine specimen collection?
It would not be unusual for a supervisor of the same sex as you to accompany you to be sure you do not make any substitutions.
Reply:My company has mandatory drug screenings. For a while they did the urine tests on their site, with no supervision. then they started sending them to the hospital, but the cost was prohibitive. Now they use a swab thing in your mouth and seal it right there in front of the person and send it off. No one ever observed when they did the urine collection. But for a hospital, I would not consider that unusual. There is no privacy there!!!
