I was unable to start work because previous employer failed to verify employment in a timely manner.?

My start date was July 11th pending employment verification of my 3 previous employers. Within 2 weeks all but one responded. I had to call the company and told them that if they dont respond I would lose my job. They did. However, my start date was moved to July 25th. How do I attempt to recover lost of wages. Is it possible?

Sorry, but there is no requirement for a previous employer to verify work dates, merely a courtesy to do so.

You will not be able to get restitution.

In the future, it's a good idea to keep a copy of your first paystub, and your last paystub from each job, as well as a copy of your w-2. Many paystubs today actually have the date of employment listed.

That way, should a previous employer refuse to reply, or worse, go out of business, you have a record.
Reply:you mean lost wages for a job you didn't yet have for work you didn't perform?

which part of "pending" wasn't clear? You had a conditional start date, the conditions weren't met, and so at least they did get done swoon after that.

your previous employer is not responsible for anything about you at all - they could have not taken the call at all you know.
