Should I terminate employment with my current job or try to search for new employment while working?

I am currently working in a very stressful environment; moreover, it is simply not the job that I truly desire. The reality is that it was a job I took because it was the only one being offered to me at the time that was full-time and after 9 months of on-and-off employment it was a welcome change. Flash forward a year and 8 months later and I'm still working there and more miserable than I was unemployed! I definitely plan to change jobs ASAP but the the problem is it's hard to search when you work 8-10 hours a day and then I have evening commitments as well (class, etc.) I found while unemployed or even working temp/part-time jobs it was easier to search and be available to interview. My concern, of course, is losing out on income for an indefinite period of time as well as benefits. Any thoughts?

Should I terminate employment with my current job or try to search for new employment while working?
dont quit untill u have another job lined up
Reply:Since you failed to tell us what is making you unhappy---it must be too much so I say QUIT...It is interferring with your private life after work...You don't need benefits...
Reply:You need to suck it up %26amp; deal with it while you are looking. You should not have to deal with a stressful job, but I'm sure you have responsibilities %26amp; bills that need paid. Most interviewers are understanding when it comes to scheduling around your current job. You may have to take a few sick days or 1/2 days until you get an offer.
Reply:Start a hunt. If you leave your present employer, and obtain a gap, what will you tell the next interviewer about the gap? Most folks don't know what to say. But there are those with exceptional interviewing skills who do know how to negotiate themselves out of a corner.
Reply:Have you considered a home business? I have been a tradesman all my life and decided to go out and make my own money. Just beware of all the scams out there. If they tell you "It's get rich fast"....RUN THE OTHER DIRECTION. I have teamed up with a group of great people(mostly stay at home moms), many of which are turning six figure incomes, and are willing to mentor me to achieve my goals. this cost me nothing! I would be happy to introduce you to this group, again, for free if you are interested in controlling your own destiny. copy and paste www.saferhealtherhomes.com (check the spelling if you do this manually), read it over and my contact info is on this site. Best of luck to you in whatever you pursue.....Wes
