How would you change your contract of employment?

this is for my business work and i haven't a clue what to write any ideas appreciated xx

How would you change your contract of employment?
If your business in in the UK, all employess are entilteled to a Written Statement of Employment particulars. To be able to vary a contract, you would need a clause within thi contract giiving you the right to do so. EG a Mobility Clause, saying that you have the right to vary the place of employment, eg move to a different site.

If you don't have the right to vary the contract, and you feel that you have a valid business reason to do so, you can go ahead and vary the contract as long as you give notice to the employees of 1 week per years service up to a maximum of 12 , unless the contract says longer. Then if you impose this varion on your employees with out the right to vary, they may feel that you have breeched their contract. (if they have over 1 years service, there is the posibility they could put in a grievance, and if it is not resolved resign with out notice and claim constructive dismissal at an employment tribunal (but that is very hard to prove)

If that is the wrong tangent, here is a list of things that should be included within a Written Statement of Employment Particulars (Contract);

•the names of the employer and the employee;

•the date when the employment (and the period of continuous employment) began;

•remuneration and the intervals at which it is to be paid;

•hours of work;

•holiday entitlement, including public holidays and sufficient information to be able to calculate holiday pay on termination of the contract;

•entitlement to sick leave, including any entitlement to sick pay;

•pensions and pension schemes;

•the entitlement of employer and employee to notice of termination;

•job title or a brief job description;

•where it is not permanent, the period for which the employment is expected to continue or, if it is for a fixed term, the date when it is to end.

•either the place of work or, if the employee is required or allowed to work in more than one location, an indication of this and of the employer's address; and

•details of the existence of any relevant collective agreements which directly affect the terms and conditions of the employee's employment - including, where the employer is not a party, the persons by whom they were made;

•The statement should also include a note giving certain details of disciplinary and dismissal and grievance procedures

Hope this is of help.
