Could I apply for Hong Kong employment visa while I am in HK during visa-free period as a visitor?

While I am in my visa-free period in HK as a visitor, would I be able to apply directly in HK for employment visa without having to fly back to my home country (Australia) and then apply for a separate employ't visa?

It is possible. But the company should be prepared to give a reason why you apply in Hong Kong. And while you wait the few weeks you are not allowed to work.
Reply:The company will have to apply one for you. They might not be willing to do that when they can just hire a HK native
Reply:You should get a job first and then get your new employer to apply for a work visa on your behalf. Having said that the immigration office is unlikely to approve of a work visa for just anyone unless its a skill that HK does not have or lack of, meaning you probably have to do something that is unique.
